DESCRIPTION:Near You Event - The Hot Reality: Living in a +50°C World\n\nEv
ent Type: Talk or debate\n\nIndustry Sector: Cross-sector\n\nSpeak Details
: Speaker: Dr Tim Fox ••• Chair: Allan Barton ••• Panel: Dr Leyla Sayin\n
 \nDescription : To&nbsp\;book your place on to this event\,&nbsp\;please c
lick here.\n&nbsp\;\nThis Event has been organised by the Adaptation Worki
ng Group of the Process Industries Division of the IMechE in collaboration
with the Clean Cooling Network. It is hosted by Process Industries Divisi
on and&nbsp\;promoted across the&nbsp\;Centres in the North West&nbsp\;and
Yorkshire Regions\, the Aberdeen Area\, the North East area\, all part of
the Process Industries Community.&nbsp\;\nFollowing the highly successful
launch of&nbsp\;'The Hot Reality: Living in a +50&deg\;C World' at the IM
echE&rsquo\;s London headquarters\, in collaboration with the Clean Coolin
g Network this COP29 focussed webinar invites you to join Dr Tim Fox (lead
author) to explore the report. The continued increase globally in seasona
l temperatures and the severity and frequency of heatwaves will severely i
mpact all liveable aspects of life on Earth. Tim will highlight how critic
al cooling infrastructure is at the core of many of the viable solutions n
eeded to ensure our ability to survive and thrive in these new conditions\
, as well as the role engineering will play in ensuring a successful outco
me for humanity.\nFor adaptation to be effective and a resilient outcome e
nvisaged for humanity\, the consequences for a world without cooling as cr
itical infrastructure needs to be fully understood: food insecurity\, inef
fective health systems\, overheating buildings\, failing digital technolog
y\; lost workplace output and economic productivity\; increased migration\
, and exacerbated disparities and divides. Tim will discuss these conseque
nces along with the central role of Clean Cooling in helping to tackle the
 m. A concept developed by the Centre for Sustainable Cooling at Birmingham
University\, Clean cooling aims to deliver equitable\, resilient and futu
re proofed cooling infrastructure\, considering global goals for reducing
greenhouse gas emissions\, climate change mitigation and sustainable devel
opment.&nbsp\;It takes a holistic systems level approach to implementing i
nfrastructure considering accessibility\, affordability\, financial sustai
 nability\, scalability\, skills\, training\, safety\, and reliability\, to
  help deliver societal\, economic\, and health goals.\nWebinar Agenda\;\n\
