 and management\, and a D. Phil in plant sciences and renewable energy. His
  current focus is on climate change where Mike has been active for over 30
  years\, Mike has delivered several lectures to academia about decarbonisa
 tion.\n\nDescription : \n\nOutside the Box - rethinking aviation fuel'\n\n
 Climate change will be a global catastrophe\, but it's slow burning and ea
 sy to downplay.&nbsp\; Geopolitical crises\, however\, can be urgent and i
 mpossible to ignore.&nbsp\; Carbon is at the core of both problems.&nbsp\;
  In a world that demands\, not 'net zero' but 'massively net negative' CO2
  emissions\, emitting more carbon to atmosphere\, wherever it comes from\,
  will be hard to sustain.&nbsp\; And as recent events have shown\, conveni
 ent fossil carbon comes with the political price of resource concentration
  and energy insecurity.\n&nbsp\;\nThis talk will explore the dangers of im
 agining a carbon powered world\, whatever its source\, and the potential o
 f the rest of the periodic table to deliver the energy carriers we need be
 fore focusing on nitrogen as a hydrogen carrier.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;Ammonia is
 a potentially safe\, sustainable fuel that can be moved\, stored and explo
 ited economically and made almost anywhere.&nbsp\; The talk will briefly c
 over some of the advances currently being made in ammonia synthesis\, comb
 ustion and safety.\n&nbsp\;\n\nSpeaker Bio &ndash\; Mike Mason:\nhttps://w
