DESCRIPTION:Near You Event - Industrial Cybersecurity – A System Integrator
 ’s Perspective\n\nEvent Type: Talk or debate\n\nIndustry Sector: Process I
 ndustries\n\nSpeak Details: Speakers\, Kati Gastrow\, Paul Hingley\, Lee H
 ouldsworth\, Kevin Ruff\nChair: Martyn Ralph \nPanel: Those above\n\nDescr
iption : \nTo Register\, please click here\n\n\n\nThe third event in this
webinar series explores industrial cybersecurity from a system integrator&
rsquo\;s perspective\, aimed at system integrators\, end users who engage
with them\, and all those involved across the cybersecurity lifecycle.\nTh
is webinar provides an overview of industrial cybersecurity from the viewp
oint of a system integrator\, increasing awareness of how cybersecurity co
nsiderations arise throughout the lifecycle of industrial projects. It foc
uses on the stages at which cybersecurity becomes relevant and the practic
al challenges encountered during real projects.&nbsp\;\nThe session sets c
ontext around typical industrial process control systems\, including PLCs\
 , SCADA\, DCS\, I/O networks\, and IT/OT integration\, using example archi
tectures to illustrate how such systems are structured. It overviews the k
ey standards\, regulations\, and frameworks commonly referenced in industr
y\, including IEC/ISA 62443\, NIS/NIS2\, the UK Cyber Assessment Framework
\, and the European Cyber Resilience Act and explains how these influence
expectations placed on projects\, organisations\, and suppliers. In the UK
\, cyber resilience will form part of the Machinery Regulation 2023/1230\,
making it a mandatory requirement for all involved\, from equipment suppl
iers to end-users.\n&nbsp\;A central theme is the system integrator&rsquo\
;s role within the cybersecurity lifecycle and how responsibility is share
d between asset owners\, integrators\, IT teams\, and technology suppliers
.\nThe webinar discusses the importance of understanding risk\, tolerable
risk\, and risk management\, referencing IEC 62443 approaches and showing
how risk assessments underpin cybersecurity‑related decisions.\nParticular
attention is given to the quotation and tendering phase\, where cybersecu
rity requirements are often absent\, loosely defined\, or limited to high‑
level compliance statements.&nbsp\;\nThe webinar explains how unclear scop
e\, undefined responsibilities\, and the absence of early risk assessment
can lead to additional cost and delivery challenges and make it difficult
to compare or normalise cybersecurity‑related costs between competing syst
em integrators during the tendering process.&nbsp\;\nThe latter stages foc
us on practical delivery challenges\, including system installation and co
mmissioning\, integration with existing sites\, and the impact of cybersec
urity measures on testing\, diagnostics\, and fault‑finding activities. Th
e webinar concludes by examining modifications to existing systems\, patch
management\, and ongoing ownership\, highlighting how cybersecurity expec
tations continue after handover and must be managed carefully to avoid int
roducing new risk while maintaining operability.&nbsp\;\nAttendance at the
first two webinars in the series is not required\; this session is fully
self‑contained and designed to stand alone.&nbsp\;\nThis Event has been or
ganised and hosted by the Food and Drink Technical Activity&nbsp\; Committ
ee (FDEC) of the IMechE &nbsp\;Process Industries Division and&nbsp\;promo
ted across the&nbsp\;Division\, the Centres in the North West&nbsp\;and Yo
