 ere HVAC\, ventilation\, and suppression systems become the primary tools 
 for protecting life.\n\n\nThe key intended outcome for this presentation i
 s to transform the audience&rsquo\;s perception of fire safety from a rest
 rictive set of "building codes" into a dynamic mechanical engineering chal
 lenge.\n\n\nOur presenter\, Ms Teresa Sandum is a Fire and Life Safety Eng
 ineer with extensive international experience in providing performance-bas
 ed solutions for complex infrastructure and building projects. Specializin
 g in underground environments\, rail\, and road systems\, she has played a
  key role in major developments such as Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project. Sh
 e is currently delivering the Scarborough Subway Extension in Canada where
  she led advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and evacuation modeli
 ng to ensure tenable life safety outcomes. In addition to her technical ex
 pertise\, Teresa is an active leader in the engineering community\, curren
 tly serving as the Deputy Chair of the Australian Tunnelling Society&rsquo
 \;s Tunnel Systems\, Operations\, and Maintenance group. She is a strong a
 dvocate for interdisciplinary collaboration\, dedicated to bridging the ga
 p between mechanical systems design and fire safety engineering to build m
