DESCRIPTION:Near You Event - Powering the AI Economy - Roy Stenhouse - Apol
 lo\n\nEvent Type: Technical lecture\n\nIndustry Sector: Power Industries\n
 \nSpeak Details: Roy Stenhouse is Head of Built Environment at Apollo and
 has nearly 30 years’ experience across the energy sector\, spanning oil an
 d gas\, renewables and the energy transition.\n\nDescription : \n\n&nbsp\;
 The rapid growth of AI and digital services is driving data centre power d
 emands that increasingly exceed the capacity of local electricity networks
 . Long grid connection queues and reinforcement timescales are now a key c
 onstraint on project delivery across the UK.\n&nbsp\;\nThis presentation d
 raws on an Apollo case study assessing how existing gas distribution netwo
 rks could support data centre energy requirements through on site or local
  power generation. Using representative data centre archetypes\, it explor
 es technical feasibility\, system configuration options and credible trans
 ition pathways towards lower carbon operation. The session considers how i
 ntegrated gas and electricity solutions could improve resilience and deliv
 ery times while maintaining alignment with future decarbonisation objectiv
 es.\n&nbsp\;\nOur Presenter: Roy Stenhouse\n&nbsp\;\nRoy is Head of Built
 Environment at Apollo and has nearly 30 years&rsquo\; experience across th
 e energy sector\, spanning oil and gas\, renewables and the energy transit
 ion. He has led major projects from early concept through to execution\, w
 orking at the interface between design\, delivery and long term operationa
 l performance.\nRoy brings practical engineering insight into low carbon p
 ower systems\, hydrogen\, carbon capture and renewable energy integration\
 , with a strong focus on how emerging technologies can be applied safely a
 nd realistically within today&rsquo\;s infrastructure constraints. His wor
 k centres on translating innovation into robust engineering solutions that
  support reliability\, resilience and decarbonisation objectives.\n&nbsp\;
 \nAt Apollo\, Roy advises clients across the built environment\, industria
 l and energy sectors on adapting existing systems to meet increasing power
  demand and changing regulatory and operational requirements. He is partic
 ularly interested in how multi vector energy systems can be designed to ac
 commodate future demand growth while maintaining a clear pathway to lower
 carbon operation.\n\n6:00pm refreshments and networking\; 6:30pm beginning
