 he biggest engineering project in Europe and forms a major part of the May
 or’s Transport Strategy. Crossrail will connect 37 stations\, including He
 athrow airport and Maidenhead in the west with Canary Wharf\, Abbey Wood a
 nd Shenfield in the east. 17.15 Doors open17.30 Lecture commences\nWork is
  progressing to create 21km of new twin-bore tunnels and 8 new sub-surface
  stations. This lecture will describe key aspects of the project design an
 d planning\, provide an update on construction progress and explain how en
 gineering solutions have been developed to cope with the challenges presen
 ted by delivering such a complex project in the heart of a congested city.
