  has been touted as a source of low&nbsp\;carbon\, sustainable energy that
  is economic\,&nbsp\;flexible and readily deployable into the UK energy&nb
 sp\;infrastructure. Whilst this technology option&nbsp\;appears to have ma
 ny advantages over&nbsp\;intermittent renewable technologies\, there are&n
 bsp\;technological and strategic barriers to the large-scale deployment of
  biomass systems in the UK.\n\nThis lecture will outline the current gener
 ating&nbsp\;systems associated with solid\, liquid and gas&nbsp\;biomass g
 enerating plant\, followed by an&nbsp\;identification of some of the chall
