 ption : The Avro Vulcan&rsquo\;s origins are to be found nearly 70 years a
 go\, at the end of the&nbsp\;Second World War. The Vulcan Story summarises
  the history of the aircraft from its&nbsp\;inception\, through RAF servic
 e to the only time it was ever used in anger. Following&nbsp\;the end of t
 he aircraft&rsquo\;s military service\, the project to restore Avro Vulcan
  XH558 to&nbsp\;flight is possibly the most difficult historic aircraft re
 storation project ever undertaken&nbsp\;in the UK\, and one which has esta
 blished a wealth of best practice. \n\nThe talk will&nbsp\;summarise the b
 ackground and significance of the programme\, and then focus on the&nbsp\;
 restoration project itself. In particular\, various problems and issues en
 countered will&nbsp\;be highlighted\, together with how they were overcome
 \, leading to the spectacular first&nbsp\;test flight on 18th October 2007
 . Finally\, the talk will explain the current status of&nbsp\;the programm
 e\, the challenges it faces keeping the aircraft flying\, and proposals fo
