Young Members will have the opportunity to present e ither at the Bristol Aerospace Workers Association (BAWA) on the evening o f 25th November or the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institute (BRLSI ) on the evening of 26th November.*\nAs well as being a great opportunity to develop your presenting skills\, and to network with those from the eng ineering profession\, prize money is available to the winner and runner up in the area. As the event is being held over two heats in the area\, the winner and runner up will be notified once both events have taken place.\n *Please note arrangements are subject to change. All entrants will be noti fied of final arrangements prior to their heat.\nBackground:\nThis competi tion is organised annually by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers&rsqu o\; local volunteer groups. It was originally established in 1964 to chall enge young engineers to prove that they could &lsquo\;communicate effectiv ely&rsquo\;\, which is still an important area in developing engineers tod ay.\nThe competition provides young engineers with an excellent opportunit y to demonstrate and develop their presentation skills and competence in p ublic speaking. Area heats are judged by a panel of local professionals\, chosen by the local committee\, and each entry will receive feedback on th eir presentation afterwards.\nSOfE 2014 Synopses:\nAll entrants are requir ed to submit a synopsis of their presentation\, which should be no later t han Wednesday 12th November 2014. The synopses are then judged by the comp etition organisers for inclusion in the competition before entrants are se lected to participate in a suitable heat.
