chnical Lecture\n\nIndustry Sector: Manufacturing\n\nSpeak Details: James
Bradbury will give a talk on Additive Layer Manufacturing\n\nDescription :
This presentation will survey the main ALM technologies\, highlighting re
cent innovations and demonstrating how they may be made suitable for busin
esses to adopt into their manufacturing processes. The talk will showcase
some of the work done by CALM and Calmore (Centre of Alternative Materials
and Remanufacturing Technologies.\n\n\nJames Bradbury has worked within t
he Aerospace and Additive Layer Manufacturing industry for over 10 years\,
including 5 years at Alcoa Howmet developing and implementing\nco
ntinuous improvement for their investment casting process\, including use
of Stereolithography (SLA) and 3D printing processes. He joined Airbus in
2006 as part of their ALM research team\, spending 3 years working on Lase
r sintering (LS) metallic Laser Melting (LM) and Electron Beam Melting (EB
 M) processes.\nFrom 2009 his role expanded across the EADS group\, develop
ing ALM applications in areas such as defence\, Military Transportation an
d even space. In 2011 he joined the centre for Additive Layer Manufacturin
g (CALM) at the University of Exeter\, researching into ALM technologies p
articularly on the uptake of ALM in SMEs.\n\nContact Details: Richard Peac
