Description

Inclusive Engineering
Ensuring that engineering products and services are accessible and inclusive of all users

To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, The IMechE GLR (Greater London Region) and NWR (North West Region) Committees are pleased to welcome Dawn Bonfield (founder of International Women in Engineering Day).  Dawn Bonfield will host the evening and present a lecture on inclusive engineering followed by an interactive session.

Inclusion in engineering is the newest in the competencies that, as engineers, we must learn to apply to our engineering work in the same way as we consider safety, ethics, cybersecurity and sustainability. An inclusive workplace is accessible to all, is safer, and allows for greater productivity, better wellbeing and more diversity – leading in turn to business benefits and ultimately more profit and success. But even more than this, inclusivity is important because we are designing and shaping the future and it is our duty to ensure that biases are not built into the fabric of the future that we create.
