IMechE Turkiye will host the ISB meetings in April 2026, following the same event in 2025 which was cancelled due to the Istanbul earthquake. The Events will include ISB and IYMC meetings and the Global SOfE final.
The event is held with kind collaboration from TMMO and Intecro Robotics.
The IMechE Turkiye Country Representative is Sumeyra Sayman Gungor
She has been working at BP since 2007, holding roles as Senior Mechanical Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, and Technical Authority, and has 25 years of professional experience. Her areas of expertise include static equipment, rotating equipment, greenfield (new facility) and brownfield (existing facility expansion) projects, project management, and engineering management. Throughout most of her career, she has worked in the Oil & Energy sector and has also gained partial experience in the Automotive industry.
Following her graduation from university, she became a member of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects – Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (TMMO). Since 2014, she has been a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in the UK and holds the title of Chartered Engineer (CEng). As of 2024, she has been serving as the IMechE Türkiye Representative.
As part of her academic work, her scientific paper entitled “Thermal Elastic Plastic Stress Analysis of Symmetric Aluminum Metal-Matrix Composite Laminated Plates under Uniform Temperature Distribution” was published in the Journal of Thermal Stresses.
In her professional life, she adopts and demonstrates a leadership approach focused on technical excellence, safety, operational efficiency, and sustainability. In her personal life, she enjoys traveling and reading history.

Bülent Ünsever Chief Technology Officer | Industrial Robotics & Automation Expert
Bülent Ünsever serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Intecro Robotics, a leading technology company specializing in advanced industrial robotics and automation systems. With over two decades of experience in the field, he leads the company’s strategic technology development, R&D operations, and its upcoming expansion into the European market.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Mr. Ünsever is an active contributor to the global robotics community. He serves as a committee member for the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), specifically contributing to the R15.06 Industrial Robot Safety standards. In Turkey, he plays a key role in national standardization efforts as a member of the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) Mirror Committees for MTC195 (Artificial Intelligence) and MTC205 (Robotics).
Additionally, he mentors deep-tech startups at ITU Çekirdek, sharing his expertise in system engineering, digital twin technologies, and strategic business development with the next generation of engineers.

Baris Ataeli, Project Engineer BP Turkiye
Barış Ataeli is a Mechanical Engineer working in the energy infrastructure sector across the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye (AGT) region. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Eskişehir Osmangazi University and an International Welding Engineering (IWE) diploma from Middle East Technical University (METU). He is currently pursuing an Accredited Master Award in Renewable Energy through the Renewable Energy Institute (UK), of which he is a full member.
Barış currently works at bp as a Project Engineer within the Projects and Modifications Team, managing project activities across the BTC, WREP, SCP, and SCPX pipeline systems in Türkiye and Georgia. His professional background also includes serving as Country Representative for Bureau Veritas in Georgia and leading EPC and turnkey energy projects as a Project Lead Engineer at Prekons Construction.
He is a registered International Advisor under the EBRD Enterprise Growth Programme and actively contributed to sustainability initiatives as Sustainability Committee Head at the European Business Association Georgia (EBA).
Barış is a member of UCTEA Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and began his career as a Periodic Inspection Engineer within UCTEA, where he gained foundational field experience in inspection, compliance, and engineering standards.
He remains actively engaged in regional and global energy developments, with a strong interest in sustainable energy transition, infrastructure resilience, and cross-border energy cooperation.
