In this on site lecture at the University of Salford, Professor Maziar Nezhad will present the the Northern Engineering and Robotics Innovation Centre (NERIC) as a key part of the University of Salford’s commitment to industry collaboration, innovation, and skills development in a rapidly growing field. It services as a hub that enhances both the University and Greater Manchester’s technical infrastructure will be presented.
NERIC is a specialist facility designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in harnessing the potential of robotics, automation, and digital technologies. Backed by a £16 million investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Research England, and the University of Salford, the centre provides the tools, expertise, and environment needed for high-growth SMEs to reduce innovation risks and accelerate their automation journey. NERIC helps businesses explore, design, test, and adopt advanced technologies, whether they are tackling rising costs, staff shortages, or process inefficiencies.

Professor Maziar Nezhad is the Director of the Northern Engineering Robotics Innovation Centre (NERIC) and Chair in Nanophotonics and Microsystems Engineering, University of Salford. His research focuses on the development of nanophotonic devices, microscale systems and nanofabrication techniques.
