    During the past years LNG has been introduced as a fuel in the maritime sector thereby eplacing MDO or HFO, although the latter option is kept open in Dual Fuel (DF) engines. Apart from an perational cost advantage, also low emissions are a main driver to adopt gas as a fuel.

    The development of targeted genome editing systems in the last five years has undergone a quantum leap with the introduction of CRISPR-Cas9. In 2012, Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna proposed that the CRISPR-Cas9 system could be used for programmable gene editing.

    Ceramic objects are usually prolific on archaeological sites. Although fragments of ceramics are sometimes available for destructive analyses, many objects held in collections are not. The speaker therefore developed a method of using a portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (pXRF) to analyse these objects insitue.

    Het Anker Brewery, Mechelen is a family run business that started in the Grand Beguinage in Mechelen five generations ago. It has since developed into an internationally renowned brewery and is home to the famous Gouden Carolus dubbel beer (a recent World Champion beer) and a range of other brews - and even a whiskey.
