Welcome to the Iberia Group

The IMechE Iberia Group has brought together university students, new graduates and experienced engineers from across Spain and Portugal, creating one of the most dynamic and proactive groups within the European Region.

Leading the way is very demanding, so we are always looking for people who are willing to help out with our events or have an innovative idea, challenge, competition, lecture or visit that they think might be of interest to their fellow members.  If this is your case, do not hesitate to contact any of our Committee Members, we will be more than glad to give you our support and let you know how to get started.

If you are lacking ideas right now or you just want to come and meet us, check out our upcoming events.  We will be happy to meet you personally

If you would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Objectives

The main objective of the Iberia Committee is to provide value to each and every one of its 450 members (27% of which are women) by means of:

  1. Conferences and technical lectures on engineering related topics
  2. Industrial visits to leading engineering companies: Airbus, Petronor, Endesa...
  3. Social networking events: dinners, social gatherings, etc.
  4. Innovative challenges and competitions: Kilimanjaro Challenge, EngNow-17, Formula Student Learning Experience...

The ultimate goals of the group are:

  • To promote technical and professional development of members of the Institution residing in, or visiting, Iberia, through meetings and other forms of communication, by encouraging members to prepare or discuss papers, through the study of local mechanical engineering practice, and through close coordination with the Institution’s Headquarters
  • To achieve closer personal acquaintance and spirit of cooperation amongst Institution members in Iberia
  • To provide a local point of contact with indigenous engineering societies on all matters of mutual professional and technical concern
  • To assist officers from the Institution headquarters in their contacts with European institutions and other engineering bodies located in Iberia
  • To actively seek to promote the status of engineering within Iberia and the wider European community
