IMechE Trustee Lisa Norcross on 23rd October for a behind the scenes
visit at TK Elevator's test tower in Rottweil, Germany. At 246m in
height, the tower dominates the surrounding Black Forest scenery, and
has the highest viewing platform in Germany. There are 9 test shafts and
one transportation shaft and the tour will include an overview of the
type of testing conducted and a visit to the machine room. Rottweil is
the home of Multi, the world's first ropeless elevator, a prototype of
which is running in the tower. The Chief Engineer of Multi will give a
presentation, sharing insights into the technology used and some of the
challenges faced. The afternoon will conclude with a discussion about
the IMechE HQ building and the member vote on this topic, this will be a
hybrid online session to allow members from across Europe to join. The
day will be conducted in English.
