Workshop 4 - Data Sovereignty, Risk and Opportunity

16th November 2016, 10.30 – 17.00

We are pleased to invite you (or a delegate) to participate in a one-day EIIL Research workshop on ‘Industry 4.0 and its Impact on Our Industry’. The workshop, the final in a four-workshop series, will take place from 10.30 – 17.00 on Wednesday 16th November at the headquarters of EIIL member Covestro in Leverkusen, Germany.

Context

Our pilot workshop outlined some probable disruptions in our industry, as a result of developments in the ‘industrial internet of things’. It identified potential futures, future leadership issues, and the skills required of ‘next generation’ leaders. Two subsequent workshops looked ‘inside the plant boundary’ focusing on potential developments in support of the primary value stream (‘process’) and at services to it (‘maintenance’).

This fourth workshop will look at data sovereignty, risks and opportunities presented by necessary automation data being held in the cloud, often by third parties.

Future workshops in 2017 will look at the impact of digital developments in logistics and in procurement.

Format

The workshop will feature ‘impulse’ presentations from both the owner/operator and the automation vendor perspective. Each of these will be followed by facilitated discussions themed to help us ‘crowd-source’ opinion on possible futures, opportunities and threats.

We will also consider the impact of these developments on the technical leadership they will demand and on the career development opportunities for those who may lead them.

Location:

The workshop will be hosted by EIIL member Covestro at their headquarters in Leverkusen Germany. It will be free of charge to EIIL members and their guests. Registration, by return email to secretariat@eiil.net is required by 11 November 2016.
