Thordon’s Ultra High Efficiency (UHE) Micro Hydro Turbine
Today, hydro power production is the most efficient power source with no waste byproducts. Small-scale hydro turbines
are generally seen to be the biggest and most important component of a growing hydro-power industry. In
Canada, many First Nations communities rely on diesel generators for power. These require costly maintenance and are
noisy and inefficient compared with small hydro. A well designed, low-maintenance hydro site may be a better option if
there is a nearby river.
Thordon Bearings has designed and constructed the UHE100, an Ultra-High Efficiency Micro-Hydro Turbine.
The turbines are fitted with Thordon non-metallic bearings and seals, offering the user the following benefits:
 the highest efficiency possible
 completely non-polluting
 requires minimal attendance and maintenance
 low noise

Speaker(s)

Anthony (Tony) Hamilton is currently the Technical Director at Thordon Bearings and oversees the Engineering, New Product Development, Field Services and Polish Hydro power departments. This allows access to many opportunities advancing current products and creating new ones.
