The Advanced Passenger Train Project
Technical lecture
08 April 2026 17:00 - 19:00
This event has finished
Description
Kit Spackman will speak on the history of the APT
Notes from a previous presentation:
Kit’s talk was very informative and covered the APT-E’s preliminary trials including with the POP train and the various problems which were identified and overcome.
The final destiny of the APT-E was to end in York NRM where it appeared to have been stored outside and ignored for over 20 years until a group of enthusiasts formed a Support Group and restored the train to its original state.
Finally Kit mentioned the trials and tribulations of the electric APT-P train and its ultimate demise
