Description
Crossrail is a £15Bn programme to drive a new heavy rail commuter route across London and link with existing services to the east and west connecting the Great Western Main Line near Paddington and the Great Eastern Main Line near Stratford. Ten-car trains will run at frequencies of up to 24 trains per hour (tph) in each direction through the central tunnel section.
The talk will give a short overview of the Crossrail project and then discuss the challenges and constraints in acquiring rolling stock to work on the line when it opens in 2018.
This will be our last evening meeting and the Midlands Centre AGM will be held prior to the talk.
Speaker(s)
Phil Hinde started his railway career in 1972 in Derby and since 2009 he has been Rolling Stock and Depots Manager for Crossrail Ltd., being the technical lead in the team procuring rolling stock for the Crossrail programme
