West Midlands Metro Extension & Battery Vehicle Introduction

Matthew Hack, Head of Engineering, West Midlands Metro 

Matthew will focus on how West Midlands Metro overcame the technical challenges to the recent extension of the network and will explain how they have optimised the onboard energy storage system.

In this joint paper with Derby Railway Engineering Society (DRES), Martin will provide an update on West Coast Partnerships rolling stock plans.

Tram Overspeed Prevention

The presentation will focus on the Tram Overspeed Prevention system that DB ESG and their partners have developed for use on tram networks on Croydon and Manchester.

Future of Rail Presentations and Midlands Centre AGM

Aspiring young engineers describe the technical challenges they have addressed and compete for a prize and a place at the national ‘Future of Rail’ competition final. This meeting will be combined with the Midlands Centre Annual General Meeting.
