Technical Lecture Details
Most of his working life has been concerned with research in an engineering environment. His work experience started at the atomic energy research establishment at Harwell where he first got involved in his specialist field of using laser diagnostics to make measurements in fluid flows in harsh environments. After 9 years he got the opportunity to work for an engine consultancy in Austria, AVL, still using laser diagnostics but now almost exclusively in the automotive sector. He then moved back to the UK after 14 years and spent the next 15 years at Lotus, continuing in the same work. It was after this that he started lecturing at West Suffolk College, using both his research skills and also the experience as an invited lecturer at several of the top universities in the UK. His research work has generated over 70 publications at international conferences worldwide and in scientific journals.
