Diamond Light campus aerial viewDiamond Light Source (www.diamond.ac.uk) is the UK’s synchrotron, a major facility harnessing the power of electrons to produce bright light that scientists can use to study anything from fossils to jet engines, materials to viruses, vaccines and chemicals. A joint venture between the Science and Technology Facilities Council and the Welcome Trust, the synchrotron is used by over 7000 researchers.

This talk will explain the technology employed within the facility and the science applications that are enabled through the use of the synchrotron.

Time: Refreshments served from 18.00. Talk starts at 18.30. Finishes around 20.30 following discussion.

Venue: Wolfson Lecture Theatre, Churchill College, Storey's Way, Cambridge, CB3 0DS (directions)

Parking: There is ample free parking at the College either along Churchill Road (the College's private road) or in the main car park at the end of that road. Permits are not required.
