Cambridge Rock Festival is Cambridge’s premier music event for classic rock, blues and prog rock (with a bit of everything else thrown in). This year the festival will run over five days from the evening of Wednesday 3rd to Sunday 7th August, at Haggis Farm Polo Club, Barton, near Cambridge.
We have arranged an exclusive backstage tour for engineers on Thursday 4th August. We also have special prices on tickets, so you can stay and enjoy the music!
The festival operates on three stages. All stage and audience areas are under cover. There is a large bar selling 100 real ales and ciders, food vendors, traders and an arts and crafts marquee. The event is run on a 130 acre green field site and all services have to be set up specially, including power generation and water distribution, as well as perimeter fencing, lighting, signage, toilets and showers, road matting and sound absorbing panels, not to mention the marquees, stages, gantries, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, bars and cellar refrigeration, an extensive backstage hospitality area for the 100 acts, and facilities for the large team of professional and volunteer technicians and stewards. As an engineering project, organising an event on this scale is a complex exercise that has to be seen to be appreciated.
