The Schlumberger Gould Research Center is the distinctive marquee-like structure on Madingley Road on the western outskirts of Cambridge. It houses multidisciplinary oil and gas research teams of more than 100 scientists and technicians. Research focuses on drilling, chemistry, fluid mechanics, and geophysics, through a combination of theory, experiment, and computational simulation.
We will be given a tour of the facility and insight into its research. After a short introduction to the company, we will split into groups for a tour of the laboratories and two short presentations by Schlumberger engineers on the topics of drilling, and simulation for pump design.
