Description
Professor John Campbell will discuss the foundry techniques introduced by Cosworth. Followed by TWI branch AGM.
The Cosworth foundry, set up in Worcester in 1980, was the world's first production foundry to use an electromagnetic pump for the filling of castings in a counter-gravity mode. The revolutionary properties have led to new concepts for metallurgy, including the possible achievement of metals which cannot fail by fracture, and possibly even steels which cannot creep during high temperature service. The future for castings and metallurgy in general, looks exciting.
