Description
James Pearse from Martin Baker will speak about ejector seats.
The lecture will begin with a brief introduction to the Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Limited and a highlight review of earlier ejection seat developments. The lecture will then focus on the dominant challenges facing modern crew escape systems, the associated requirements, and the means by which those requirements are met by recent Martin-Baker ejection seats.
James Pearse joined Martin-Baker as an industrial placement student on a one year contract, working within the Design Support department, following which he was sponsored through the final two years of an MEng in Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University. On completion of his degree he returned on a full time basis to Design Support. Working within Design Support provided a very diverse range of opportunities and experiences through Design Support’s focus on design evaluation and liaison with designers to optimise product reliability, safety and maintainability.
He subsequently moved into project management, where he has worked for over eight years, and is now the Integrated Project Leader interfacing with the Company’s major international customers, which include Lockheed Martin on the F35 programme. In this role, James has worked with a wide range of customers and suppliers from all over the world, all of whom with varying requirements. Martin-Baker’s products and broad international customer base has provided an almost unique opportunity to experience technical, programmatic and commercial requirements and challenges.
