Description

Following an air accident to a light aircraft where there are no fatalities, the investigation may be by correspondence and involves the pilot completing a questionnaire. At the other extreme are the field investigations where a small team of inspectors drawn from the four disciplines mentioned above are sent to the site to collect evidence.  This can take several days and outside support agencies may be drawn in to provide specialist experience and equipment.  Further detailed examinations and analyses are carried out in the AAIB laboratories.  The lecture will draw on the speaker's experience in all the aspects of the AAIB work.

Speaker(s)

Robert Vickery, Senior Engineering Inspector at the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
