Description:
After 25 years of compound growth our railway network had become, for the most part, a crowded and congested place. This pandemic has pressed the reset button. We now have both the opportunity, and the imperative, to reimagine a better railway in the future. This presentation will explore the context of the railway at this moment in time and discuss the once in a generation opportunity to Build Back Better, Faster and Greener. At Govia Thameslink Railway we have declared our ambition to change our business fundamentally and irreversibly. Will we seize this opportunity?

About our speakers:
Steve White (CEng) COO Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR). Steve has held executive appointments at London Underground, Silverlink Trains, Eurostar and Siemens PLC, handling the operation and maintenance of metro, commuter and long-distance services. Steve joined GTR as Chief Operating Officer end of September 2018 and became Deputy CEO in July 2019. He has been a key member of the new leadership team responsible for navigating the business through successive timetable changes, customer experience improvements, restoration of stakeholder confidence and the completion of the UK’s largest new fleet introduction programme. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Steve led the business response to ensure the delivery of a safe, on-time railway service for key workers. He also contributes to the national rail performance agenda through leadership of the Performance Improvement Management System on behalf of Network Rail and train operators.
