EYF Career Awareness Day is a one-day careers event that has been established to show attendees that engineering is a career worth pursuing. This careers event is primarily targeted for students, aged 17-18 years old, who are studying Science, Maths or Engineering at GNVQ or A-Level to learn about potential future Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers from actual employees in the industry.

The key aims of this event are:

• To showcase the breadth of engineering fields students can get involved in.

• To cultivate an association between students and potential employers.

• To encourage development of new problem-solving skills through workshops, and to raise students’ aspirations regarding their own capabilities and interests.

The event will also support schools in meeting following Gatsby Benchmarks:

• Linking curriculum learning to careers

• Encounters with employers and employees

Running from 10am - 3.45pm on Friday 2nd November 2018; this years’ event will have employers and workshop sessions run by Atkins, Aecom, Surrey Satellite Technology and Fluor. There will also be a session ran by Kingston University and awards given to close. The activities are designed to suit those in Years 12-13 and will showcase the fantastic opportunities offered by engineering degrees and apprenticeships as well as challenge students problem solving skills and way of thinking. The event is FREE to attend, lunch and light refreshments will be provided.
