This luncheon meeting will be held at the Festival Suite, Croydon Masonic Halls, 73, Oakfield Road, West Croydon CR0 2UX
Following lunch we will hear a presentation by Julie Chandler on

"The Great Stink - Joseph Bazalgette's Story"

It's the 1800's and the River Thames stinks! London's main water supply is one big toilet and Londoners are dying in their thousands from cholera. How did it get to his and what can be done? Discover the story of how one man's vision and feat of engineering genius cleaned up the Thames, eradicated cholera and saved thousands of lives.

Assemble from 12.00pm for a 12.45pm start to the lunch.
Members are welcome to bring guests - all are welcome.
The charge, including wine, for this 3 course lunch will be £24 per person.

The Croydon Masonic Halls are approx 1/2 mile from West Croydon Railway Station, Bus Station and Tram Stop. Parking is also available in the Masonic Halls car park in nearby Stanton Road CR0 2UN


Julie Chandler is a London Blue Badge Guide and has given presentations at a variety of events. She set up London Town Tours and, in addition to being a tour guide and lecturer, she trains the guides at the Houses of Parliament, Florence Nightingale Museum and the View from the Shard among others.
