Description

Walk:- Putney Bridge to South Bank Centre. This walk is part of a series from Hampton Court to Thames Barrier

Date:- Saturday 18th May meet at 10.00am and start the walk at 10.15am

Meeting Point:- South side of Putney Bridge by St. Mary's Church War Memorial. The church is 0.4 miles south of Putney Bridge Underground Station and 0.3 miles north of Putney BR Station, along Putney High Street.

Walk Overview:- The walk is about 8 miles long, along the Thames Path. It will be about 5 miles before lunch and 3 miles after.

Route:- On leaving Putney Bridge we go through Wandsworth Park and on past the Battersea Heliport. After Battersea and Albert Bridges we go through Battersea Park and around the site of the old Battersea Power Station.
After lunch we pass the MI5 building which is followed by Lambeth Palace and St. Thomas' Hospital. Finally we see the London Eye and, after Hungerford Bridge, we arrive at the Royal Festival Hall.

Finish:- The walk will end at about 3.30pm by the South Bank Centre which is near Waterloo BR Station and Underground.

Lunch Break:- The Nine Elms Tavern. A menu will be available at the start of the walk and lunch orders will be phoned through to the pub.
