This year we have an excellent line-up of young engineers presenting at the south eastern heat of the Future of Rail presentation competition. I am pleased to be announcing the shortlisted finalists and sharing with you details of their presentations.
Samuel Pain, Hitachi Rail Ltd.
Passenger Counting System Accuracy Testing
Jack Parker, Transport for London
How TfL are making their trains more accessible for people with disabilities
Harry White, Transport for London
Can you 3D print a train?
In addition, we will be welcoming the Railway Division’s Chair, James Collinson, (Head of Design, Network Rail) who will be delivering his Chair’s Address on ‘Dots and Boxes: What it can teach railway engineers and organisations’.
I am also excited about the venue for the competition, the Chadwick Building, which is part of the University College London campus. As in in-person event this will be a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and meet new contacts. Refreshments will be served from 17:30. Booking is essential.
