Silverstone Run Success

Members from Coventry, Birmingham and the East Midlands joined together for a summer run to Silverstone for Formula Student starting at Triumph Motorcycles factory in Hinckley before picking up more participants at Coombe Abbey and Southam. A fantastic assortment of vehicles took part, from a 1951 Ariel motorcycle, to a vintage Bentley through to modern day Westfields and Caterhams. Keith Howard said "It was a really good mix of cars and a proper wacky race."

After a fun drive through the rain, the members took shelter in the Jaguar Land Rover stand to warm up, and experience the Land Rover Experience mini terrapod. Some made the most of an opportunity to take part in a ceremonial lap round the historic circuit. Once that was completed it was time for a "team photo" and picnic kindly organised by Coventry Automobile Division members. An enjoyable afternoon was spent enjoyed talking to the students and watching some of the action on track.

All participants received an IMechE tankard or tumbler. A great fun day out, despite the weather, we're looking forward to the next one already.
