Description
Free & open to all (not just IMechE members).
Please book with John Butler - john.butler276@btinternet.com; thanks.
Lichfield Waterworks Trust volunteers have been working tirelessly since 2012, initially to gain access to Sandfields Pumping station, then since 2017 to halt the deterioration of their lovely Grade2* listed building and its contents - the unique, locally manufactured Cornish beam engine.
They're now working with Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund to secure funding to improve the site so that it becomes a recognised tourist attraction in Lichfield as well as a museum and community hub.

In recognition of the work done by John Robinson McClean, the engineer responsible for the entire scheme that provided clean water to the Black Country to combat many waterborne diseases, this event will present an IMechE Engineering Heritage Award.
