    The presentation will show how classical methods of analysis have be applied to develop new procedures for analysis preloaded bolted joints. These new procedures are based on a holistic approach to preloaded bolted joint analysis. This is achieved by considering multi-bolt joints as consisting of multiple elements that interact with each other to produce a complex system. Guidance on how the procedures can be applied to bolted joint design is also discussed.
