This talk will follow the evolution of marine propulsion from paddle steam as used in the SS Great Western through to the modern gas turbine.
Along the way we’ll also consider the SS Great Britain screw propulsion system, triple expansion, and the first marine steam turbine of Turbinia.
Please Note: Those attending will be requested to wear
face masks on entering and moving around in the building and
when not seated for the talk or lunch. Food will be served to members by the caterers in the Sports Lounge and taken by members to the main hall to be consumed.
