This Christmas Lecture is jointly organised/promoted by BCS, IET, IMA & IMechE.
If you know any school students aged 10-15 (approx.), there will be activities for them to puzzle over during the lecture.
In a fun way, some of the things that will be covered are:
- How do aliens (with only three fingers on each hand) count?
- Where did numbers come from?
- Card tricks involving logic
- Measuring square roots
- Handy multiplication
- What is the probability that two people have the same birthday?

Note that the venue, Coventry University's Engineering & Computing Building, is now called the Frank Whittle Building.
Speaker(s)
Derrick Willer is a chartered engineer who worked mainly in the manufacturing sector before retirement. He was awarded an MBE for services to education in 2018 and recently published a fun maths book which he provides to local schools free of charge.
