Description

This talk outlines the requirement and challenges of eliminating waste and establishing a Circular Economy, plus proposes and demonstrates how the application of existing improvement methodologies and tools can be used to facilitate this revolution.

It explains how the waste recycling and recovery industry operates in the UK and is changing, as it supports our collective journey in establishing a comprehensive and sustainable economic model which banishes waste. And finally, proposes how application of existing improvement methodologies developed and applied in our manufacturing and service industries, can be applied to the unique problems faced by the waste and recycling industry.

With over 20 years’ experience of both engineering and facilitating process improvement, Ian Chapman of Suez Recycling and Recovery UK Ltd, outlines how Suez is adopting Continuous Improvement, Lean and Six Sigma at its Knowsley rail line transfer station to achieve its corporate vision of ‘no more waste’ through helping to support the establishment of the Circular Economy.
