Submarine cables are a vital part of the international infrastructure, carrying communications and, very importantly, electrical power between countries. 

This lecture will provide an overview of how the industry operates in terms of the cable manufacturers, cable laying operators and companies who do both, and will discuss examples of installation activities and the different pieces of equipment used in installations.
