The gas turbine has been the airliner powerplant of choice for seventy years and has seen many improvements since its introduction in 1952. One of the big future influences in how future technologies take shape will be the drive to reduce the environmental impact of aviation. How this impacts the future of the gas turbine will be investigated to allow the audience to understand the possible solutions for future generations of airliners.
