This concise, real-world presentation will demonstrate how live and historical onboard data are utilised to identify developing faults, minimise unplanned failures, and enhance fleet availability. The session will cover examples of condition-based interventions on the Class 170 fleet and measurable reliability outcomes since deployment.

Engineers will gain technical details on data acquisition, signal selection, thresholding, and anomaly detection, as well as the integration of data sources and the workflows that turn insights into maintenance actions.

Joe draws on frontline experience as a former Siemens fault-finding technician and a First Class BEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and now works as a Digital Systems Engineer at Porterbrook, collaborating daily with Cross Country and Northern Trains.
