Structural failure of silos has frequently caused substantial financial losses, injury and death to workers. The current trend of mass retirements of experienced engineers, and replacement with fresh graduates, greatly increases the risks especially as the discipline of bulk solids handling is not on the regular educational curriculum of most engineering graduates. This event will serve to raise awareness and hopefully stimulate interest in the subject to aid safety in this field.

A slowdown of ocean currents associated with the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and the resulting change to climates has profound implications for the outcomes of our strategies for adaptation and resilience. This webinar will consider the potential climate changes, possible impacts on the built environment and engineered infrastructure, and how we should account for these in the development of adaptation and resilience building activities, including design methods and codes.
