The Chairman of the COMAH Strategic Forum (Mr Ken Rivers) gave the second part of his lecture on Process safety Leadership on 15th March at the STFC Daresbury. Entitled "Getting Commitment" the talk addressed the fact that serious incidents still occur despite the lessons of well-known major incidents of the past decades - e.g. Buncefield, Texas City.
Through leadership, the critical changes can be made to turn good practice into common practice. The talk gave a clear picture of what needs to be embraced and promoted, in particular by those of us who are "currently unengaged" in the transformation of our organisations and businesses. Listeners commented that the presentation had been excellent/first class/ lots to learn and the presenter to have been engaging and passionate, and to have offered ideas far more fundamental and open than was expected
