Welcome to the South Cumbria Area
The South Cumbria Area covers Barrow-in-Furness, Millom, The South Lakes up to and including Ambleside.
We arrange around 10 lectures a year and try to make them as varied and interesting as possible. Talks are open to Members and visitors free of charge. They usually last about 1 hour with questions afterwards.
Our events are usually held in the Forum 28, Duke Street, Barrow-in-Furness which is opposite the Town Hall in the centre of town and conveniently placed for buses or parking with easy access from the A590.
We aim to promote engineering within the area and regularly assist other professional engineers to arrange projects with the local schools.
We are always interested in any new suggestions for interesting lecture topics/visits so please feel free to contact any committee member with your ideas.
The South Cumbria Area Committee is always eager for new members so anyone wishing to serve on the committee (or even just attend out of interest) would be most welcome. Committee meetings run between Jan-May and Sep-Nov at a rotating location within Barrow-in-Furness. Details of the next meeting will be below when available - there is not a requirement to book beforehand.
