Description

Gas…a future for the combustion engine?

Some people think the combustion engine has had its day, but what if there was a game-changing ultra-low emission solution which could prove those people wrong?

OakTec is an engineering research specialist with a history of world-leading innovation in low carbon power technologies including novel combustion engines, for fuel efficiency and emissions reduction, and hybrid vehicle energy recovery systems. Their technologies enable direct alternatives to small petrol and diesel engines for power generation, industrial and agricultural applications using any gas or biogas fuel including green hydrogen.

And now with a focus on improving local air quality a new ultra-clean, gas powered hybrid generator technology, CAGE (Clean Air Gas Engine), has been launched through a collaboration of three UK technology companies. The system is being developed to use clean gas and biogas fuels as a replacement for the diesel machines that dominate the construction sector with the aim of delivering breakthrough reductions of exhaust gas emissions and over time moving to a full carbon neutral capability.

Join us as Oaktec founder Paul Andrews talks us through the work done by OakTec Power developing engine solutions such as the Pulse-R and providing the gas engine technology for the CAGE technology. Proving the combustion engine has a green future ahead.

The talk will be hosted through Microsoft Teams and a link for the event will be sent out in the days leading up to the talk. This talk is brought to you by the IMechEs’ South Lancashire Young Members Panel in collaboration with Oaktec. For any event enquirers please contact the SLYMP secretary at matthew.hutson@member.imeche.org.

Speaker(s)

Paul Andrews is the owner of Oaktec, an independent company with a track record in developing groundbreaking technologies in the area of low carbon road transport and power generation. OakTec is now focused on the development and commercial realisation of clean, efficient gas engine technologies.
