Description

Schrader Electronics, now part of Sensata Technologies,  is a leading designer and manufacturer of automotive and industrial electronics.  With its Headquarters in Antrim, manufacturing facilities in both Carrick and Antrim in Northern Ireland, Springfield in the US and sales offices worldwide, the company has over 1500 employees.

The Schrader Electronics team pioneered and developed the remote tyre sensor - a small plastic box attached to the back of a tyre valve into which is packed a pressure sensitive chip, a 10 year battery and a radio transmitter which sends a warning signal to a dashboard display if pressure falls.  Since the first working system was installed in a vehicle over 15 years ago, it has increasingly been adopted by the world’s leading car manufacturers, with sales steadily climbing year on year.

During 2014 Schrader Electronics manufactured 59 million sensors and 3.5 million systems and in November 2014 reached a milestone of selling its 300 millionth sensor.
