This event will discuss the evolution of Mid-Ulster’s material processing and handling industry to its position of successful global leadership. The talk will reflect on the industry’s origins in Co. Tyrone during 1950’s/60’s and discuss its subsequent development, key drivers of success and the emergence of a cluster of interrelated highly specialised manufacturing businesses. The presentation will consider the industry’s globalisation and its impact on R&D and the design and engineering base.
