Description

Ever wanted to find out how wind turbines work and see one up close? Now is your chance!

Wind energy is powering Scotland into the future with high natural resource and subsidy free options coming onto the market. Take this chance to join Edinburgh and South East Scotland's YM Panel on a technical visit to an operational wind turbine in Fife.

The tour/technical talk will be provided by ex-Enercon UK construction manager Chris McMath. He will talk us through the construction and operational phases of the wind turbine and explain how the technology scales up to larger assets seen worldwide.

The turbine is owned locally by Ore Valley Housing Association, who are a social landlord across Fife. Ore Valley manage over 600 rental properties across Fife including both commercial and domestic rentals. The net profits from the turbine are equally split between development of new social housing in and around Cardenden and supporting the local community through grants and investments for local projects and enterprises.

The visit will start at Cardenden Station at 13:45 where we have arranged for transport to take those attending to the turbine and will return them to station after the visit.
