The presentation will give an introduction into basic design principles of long endurance fixed wing drones. This will include composite lamination approaches to optimise strength to weight ratio and performance characteristics of the drone. The talk will present RaptorUAS drone development, the world's first flight of a solid-state hydrogen powered drone. Current applications and maturing control theory code for multirotor drones, which is re-igniting imagination for personal flying machines.

A visit to Tokheim Ltd, Dundee has been arranged for 4 October 2017 with places for 20 IMechE members and guests. The Dundee Manufacturing Centre is the heart of Tokheim’s EMEA fuel dispenser business, and home to Tokheim’s experienced engineering and manufacturing teams. The Dundee facility of 11,000m2 opened in 1995, and employs a talented workforce of around 450 people across a broad range of functions.
